Trauma & PTSD

There are different types of trauma ‘Big T Traumas’ these are ACUTE, a trauma that results from a single incident. CHRONIC trauma that is repeated and prolonged such as domestic violence or abuse, COMPLEX, trauma related to exposure to varied and multiple traumatic events, often of an invasive, interpersonal nature.

VICARIOUS/SECONDARY TRAUMA, may occur if you witness or hear about something traumatic.

We also have ‘Small T traumas’ such as moving house, losing a job, losing a loved one.

Trauma is subjective, meaning that it is defined by the experience rather the event itself. It can be experienced in many different settings for example school, work, home, war.

At Quiet Minds, we understand the courage it can take to reach out for support. We will work at your pace to ease symptoms that you may be experiencing, using therapies such as EMDR, EFT and the Rewind technique, in which you do not have to continuously speak of the traumatic events that have impacted you. We offer you psycho-education helping you to understand your brain, with this knowledge you can make small changes to help regulate your moods.
